A celebration of inclusive basketball that moved the whole city
This weekend, Manresa hosted a great celebration of basketball and inclusion with the Copa Campeones, a competition organised by the ACB and Fundación ACB that transformed the Nou Congost arena into a space full of emotion, effort and team spirit.
AMPANS was proud to be part of this experience with the AMPANS and Bàsquet La Salle Manresa team, representing BAXI Manresa in the tournament. Over two days, players and coaching staff from the inclusive teams of BAXI Manresa, Covirán Granada, Unicaja Málaga, UCAM Murcia, Bàsquet Girona and Casademont Zaragoza shared the court, demonstrating that basketball truly is a sport for everyone.
For many players, wearing the colours of the club they admire every weekend was an unforgettable experience. On the court there was enthusiasm, sportsmanship, effort and determination, but above all great excitement about being able to play and represent their city. The arena, with stands full of fans, banners and scarves, experienced moments of true celebration.
The competition concluded with a very closely contested final between the AMPANS and La Salle team, representing BAXI Manresa, and Bàsquet Girona. The game was decided in the final moments with a narrow 30-35 victory for the Girona side. Beyond the result, what remains is the shared experience and the value of a competition that places inclusion at its core.
We would also like to extend a very special thank you to all the AMPANS volunteers who took part in organising the event. Their involvement, dedication and commitment were essential in making the Copa Campeones a success.
Thank you as well to everyone who came to Nou Congost to support the teams and share this experience, once again showing that Manresa is a city of basketball and a city committed to inclusion.
