Occupational Center: support for autonomy and inclusion

The Occupational Center service offers support to people with intellectual diversity through meaningful programs and activities that enhance their proactive role in society; a key factor for strengthening their social inclusion. Program aimed at adults with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65%. It aims to develop and maintain the capabilities of each person, encouraging social participation and maximum personal and social autonomy.

The occupational service, deployed throughout the territory, contemplates a program of inclusive activities shared with other entities and groups such as schools, places for the elderly, universities, neighborhood groups... Actors who are key to full social inclusion and they contribute to greater awareness and a kinder and more welcoming society.

Own identity

Each center has its own personality to encourage the creation of natural links between people and the community. Art de Viure is the project that gives identity to the Occupational Center Les Bases or an specific activity that gives identity to the Occupational Center L'Encaix.

We have deployed this service throughout the county to get even closer to people, their places of origin and their families, in an advanced model based on community inclusion. A model evaluated by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) which endorses its methodology and results.

The Occupational Center model

Occupational centers are day care facilities that offer rehabilitative and enabling care, as an alternative to job placement. The aim is to train people to achieve maximum social integration through active and meaningful employment. It offers differentiated services that adapt the activities and intensity of support to the needs of each person. It has two areas of activity aimed at providing personal and social adjustment services, and pre-employment training.

Occupational Insertion Service (OIS)


These are activities that people choose based on their personal preferences and aptitudes and which can be from very diverse areas such as sports, fun, artistic or creative, among others.

Its purpose is personal and social adjustment through meaningful activities and therapeutic occupations that are offered based on the abilities and preferences of each person and that are included in the service's activity plan.

Occupational Therapy Service (OTS)


These are activities that people choose based on their personal preferences and aptitudes and which can be from very diverse areas such as sports, fun, artistic or creative, among others.

Its purpose is personal and social adjustment through meaningful activities and therapeutic occupations that are offered based on the abilities and preferences of each person and that are included in the service's activity plan.
