We have once again become a legend, filling old people’s homes with roses

We have done this thanks to the support of twenty companies in the region

We have once again celebrated one of the most emotional actions of our Saint George’s Day (Diada de Sant Jordi): the distribution of roses to nursing homes and day centres. For the fifth consecutive year, and thanks to the involvement of some twenty collaborating companies, the users of the service of our Occupational Centre have personally delivered the roses, accompanied by cards made in the artistic workshops of L’Art de Viure.

The initiative has made it possible to visit 15 centres in Manresa and the surrounding area, as well as other municipalities such as Callús, Castellgalí, Navarcles, Vilanova del Camí and Puigcerdà, in a gesture of warmth and recognition to the elderly. We have also distributed roses in the AMPANS homes-residences for the elderly.

In some cases, representatives of the collaborating companies have actively participated in the delivery, sharing the experience with the people cared for and residents. This intergenerational gesture has generated moments full of emotion, with the rose as a symbol of respect, affection and social connection.

Once again this year we have sold out of roses for sale at the street stalls, thank you very much!

We have lived intensely the day with the traditional sale of roses in different points of the region. From the Garden AMPANS to the points of sale set up in the municipalities where the organisation offers services, the public was able to buy quality roses and small roses, the latter being particularly popular due to their durability and ornamental value.

The red rose, priced at €4, continued to be the most popular. The fact that the day has coincided during the week and after the holidays, has contributed to an upturn in sales and a greater involvement of companies, schools and organizations, who have chosen our roses as a gesture of solidarity.

‘Sant Jordi is, for AMPANS, a day full of meaning and commitment, faithful to its mission of inclusion, link with the territory and generation of opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities’.

Once again, Saint George’s Day has been a success of participation and social cohesion.
