We have contributed our experience and knowledge to the accessible tourism training days aimed at the social sector

This week we have participated with professionals and users from various AMPANS services in the conference organised by the Manresa City Council, Acull 360, a two-day training on how to cater for groups with special abilities in tourism.

The action is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destinations, financed with European Next Generation funds – within the framework of the Spanish government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) – which, among other measures, includes the implementation of a Comprehensive Tourism Accessibility Plan.

In addition to AMPANS, the theoretical and practical workshops had the participation of local entities such as Casmacs, Centro Residencial La Luz and ONCE, and the collaboration of the Regional Council of El Bages and the Diputació de Barcelona.

The first day started with a welcome from the Councillor for Business, Tourism and Knowledge, Joan Vila, and with a conceptual explanation of accessible tourism, AMPANS proposed a dynamic of cognitive accessibility to put ourselves in the shoes of people with intellectual diversity. We also talked about marketing and options for publicising proposals to groups with disabilities, as well as the dynamic Ponte en mi lugar, in which those attending the training session went on a tour of the Regional Museum using wheelchairs, walking sticks and masks to put themselves in the shoes of people with intellectual disabilities.

The second day consisted of a round table of experiences in which people with disabilities from the city explained the challenges they face when enjoying tourist visits and good practices.

The training, which took place at the Manresa Museum, was coordinated by Impulsa Igualdad – Tur4all, a company specialised in accessible tourism that has already carried out a diagnosis of tourist accessibility in Manresa in 2021.
