We have had the honour to welcome the president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull, at our foundation during his tour around Bages, last Friday. The president of the Parliament, who had organised an institutional visit to the Lledoners prison among several events on his agenda, wanted to visit the AMPANS foundation because, according to the president of the Parliament himself, he had been told a lot about our organisation and he wanted to get to know the work we do.
The visit to AMPANS began at noon, at the Canonge Occupational Centre, where he talked with the people who are part of this service. He was very interested in the explanations he received from the boys and girls who are part of the Cognitive Accessibility Committee and how progress is being made so that all people can access clear and easy information in all areas, from culture, literature and access to information in general.
The visit continued with a lunch at Canonge Restaurant where, first of all, he greeted one by one the entire team of the restaurant.
In the afternoon, he was expected at the occupational centre L’Art de Viure where he got to know the art project we carry out. In this part of the visit, the artists Roger Concustell and Rosa Pardo, presented the art team and the projects they are working on, and showed him the art gallery in detail.
Before leaving for the residence ‘Els Companys’, the last destination in his tour of AMPANS, he signed the book of honour of the entity in which he left a writing full of meaning. He began by saying that ‘Decent countries, luminous countries are those where human dignity is the backbone’ and that AMPANS ‘represents, in a sublime way, these values, because its soul is all people’. After stating that AMPANS is a ‘material and, above all, immaterial heritage’, he ended by saying ‘What an honour to have shared a moment of heaven with you!
The Very Honourable President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull, acquired one of the works of Art de Viure that he saw exhibited in the gallery of the occupational centre of AMPANS and took a photograph with its author. It is a work by Isaac Garcia, entitled ‘El gerro de Jemima’, a watercolour on paper.
The visit to AMPANS ended at the children and youth residence ‘Els Companys’ in Sant Fruitós de Bages, which takes in children and young people with severe autism. The president of AMPANS, Lluís Sánchez, the general director, Toni Espinal, members of the management team and professionals of the entity, accompanied the visit of the president through the different centres and services of AMPANS.
