Premi Setba, the art competition created for people with intellectual disabilities, has held its 14th awards ceremony. The event, which took place at CaixaForum Barcelona, brought together artists, professionals from the sector and institutions to recognise artistic talent as a driving force for social transformation.
More than 1,100 works were submitted for the award this year, demonstrating the growing participation and impact of the Magistrals project, the artistic training programme of the Setba Foundation, which works to contribute to social transformation through culture by professional artists.
The winning and finalist works will be exhibited at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona from 10 to 20 October.
The Art de Viure project by AMPANS has won the First Prize and the Third Prize, contributing six of the twelve finalists chosen by the jury.
The winners of the Setba 2024 Prize were:
– 1st Prize: Ruben Afonso for the work Arrel i ales from AMPANS foundation with a prize of €4,000 for the organisation and €500 for the artist.
– 2nd Prize: Marta Cañada for her work La Cadira from the Sant Tomàs Occupational Centre, with a prize of 1,800€ for the organisation and 400€ for the artist.
– 3rd Prize: Noelia Bernal for the work Planetarium from the AMPANS Foundation, with a prize of €1,500 for the organisation and €300 for the artist.
The Audience Award was also presented, which this year went to Raquel Sanz of the ARTransforma organisation for her work La naturaleza de los bichos, and the Bardinet Design Award, which went to Carlos García of the Prodis Private Foundation for the Més Feliç DO Penedès charity wine label by Lacrima Baccus.
The Setba Foundation counts on the participation of various companies and institutions that support the award, such as Artesta, Bardinet Wines, Worldcoo, Ticketmaster and the European Institute of Design (IED), as well as other entities from the cultural and social sector.
The gala was attended by representatives of the Barcelona Institute of Culture, the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities, and the Direction for Cultural Promotion and Libraries.
