New residential facility in Terrassa

We respond to a historical lack of residential places for people with intellectual disabilities who are forced to move far from home.

For years, people and families from Terrassa have had to travel to the Bages region to find a residential, day or occupational centre. The project for a residence and day centre on land ceded by the city council aims to provide a solution for the people and families of the city.

Territorial balance in services and support for a dignified life is a fundamental right for all citizens.

How will the new facility look like?

The new residence will be distributed in 10 living units, with individual rooms and communal spaces, with exits to the outside and large patios for the leisure and well-being of the people who will live there. The residential building will have 2,550 m2 and 1,150 m2 for the Day Centre.

It will be a facility committed to sustainability and is designed with efficiency parameters for zero carbon footprint reduction, with maximum respect for the surroundings and the environment.

"We understand that territorial balance is a right for citizens and it is important for people to be able to stay close to their families, to avoid daily journeys by road, especially in the case of day centres, far from home. "

Toni Espinal, AMAPNS General Manager

"Demasiadas familias han tenido que llevar a sus familiares fuera de Terrassa y de su comarca, con la angustia que supone ver que en tu ciudad no hay plaza para tu hijo o hija."

Gemma Paüls, Mother

"We will have a space that will enhance the capabilities with person-centred attention, with services that will respond to the desires and life projects of each person."

Jordi Ballart, Mayor of Terrassa

The new residence and day centre are built with the aim of alleviating the lack of residential and day centre places for people with intellectual disabilities in the city of Terrassa. Territorial balance is a right for all citizens and it is essential that people can live close to their families, avoiding daily road transfers and enjoying a close and familiar environment.
