For the second consecutive year, postgraduate students specializing in Mental Health and Intellectual Disability from Andrés Bello University in Chile have participated in a week-long training program at the AMPANS Foundation.
As part of a collaboration agreement between AMPANS and the Santiago-based university, students have had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of behavioral disorders through both theoretical and practical training. Under the guidance of AMPANS’ team of behavioral experts, the training program has been structured into four specialized pathways: educational services, day care and pre-employment programs focused on mental health, residential services, and autonomous living programs aimed at fostering community inclusion.
Paulina Varas, psychologist and director of the Postgraduate Course in Mental Health and Wellbeing of People with Intellectual Disabilities at Andrés Bello University, emphasized the significance of this initiative. She highlighted that the experience provides students with specialized, hands-on training in behavioral disorders, offering a comprehensive learning opportunity in the field of intellectual disabilities.
